Specification of Elastomeric Bearing Pad or Rubber Bridge Pads
The elastomeric bearing pad serves as a retaining bearing for the bridge structure or overpass. This bearing is needed to channel the girder reaction (bridge support beam) without overpressing the structure so that the bridge can function properly. Elastomeric rubber bridges are made of natural rubber or synthetic rubber (neoprene) coated with a plate on the inside that serves to help rubber stiffness.
Elastomeric bearing pad is divided into two types, namely plain bearing pad and laminated bearing pad. The plain bearing pad only consists of elastomers, while the laminated bearing pad contains steel plates attached to the elastomer to help resist the power arising from the movement of the bridge load.
